Venezuela's humanitarian situation has deeply worsened since the two powerful earthquakes occurred on June 24th, the strongest ones to have hit the country in a long time. The calamity has taken the lives of more than 3, 000 individuals, has injured over 16, 700 people, and has made homeless around 17, 000 individuals, while almost 1.8 million people, including 680, 000 children, are now in need of immediate humanitarian support. Numerous aftershocks have been relentlessly disturbing recovery operations, with the extensive destruction of hospitals, roads, electricity networks, and water systems leading to the deterioration of the conditions of the survivors. Humanitarian workers have flagged the increasing dangers of epidemics, congested camps, and scarce medical services, while the relief groups are unable to cope with the huge demand for help. The disaster has uncovered that the health system and economy of Venezuela are weak and in need of help, which demands that the world give the country support for a long time and that the recovery be lasting.
