President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping meeting face to face was a very different approach to China after years of their trade war and political hostility. On his trip to Beijing, Trump spoke highly of relations between the two countries and threw a spotlight on working together, even though he has been critical of China lately, with a series of high tariffs, and blamed them for hurting the American economy. The summit was an indication of major steps being taken to make the economic relationship between the two countries more stable, while at the same time being very tightly connected by trade and global markets. However, there are still concerns about Taiwan and regional security in the Asia-Pacific. Some experts are worried that quickening the pace of relieving pressure on China will be one of the ways in which the U.S. could lose its stand on security and human rights.
