There have been increasing military interventions by the US as it tries to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to revive the crucial trading passage in the face of continuing threats from Iran despite the ceasefire. US military troops reported engaging in battles with Iranian forces and have destroyed several small boats used to attack civilian ships and have successfully escorted commercial ships passing through the straits. At the same time, the UAE has reported attacks via missiles and drones. This indicates a significant threat to the fragile ceasefire accord already existing. Iran has threatened any military interference from other countries within the straits. Such attempts are viewed by Iran as violations of the ongoing diplomatic processes. This crucial trade route has driven a dramatic increase in oil prices and is expected to cause instability worldwide, especially among the many nations that rely on oil imported through this strait.
